About Us
Randall C Barnes DO, a Board Certified Family Practice Doctor in Lake Ozark, Mo, brings a "common sense" approach to modern day medicine. Born in Kansas City, Mo in 1953, he graduated from Kirksville Senior High in Kirksville, Mo in 1971. He graduated from Truman State University in 1975 with a BS in Biology/Chemistry. Dr Barnes graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979 and completed his internship at Warren General Hospital in Warren, Ohio in 1980. After 6 years of practice, he became Certified in Family Practice by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Practice. Dr Barnes had a private practice in Kirksville, Missouri for 23 years where he engaged in all phases of Family Medicine, including the delivery of approximately 3500 babies.
Since moving to the "Lake" in 2003, Dr Barnes has worked for St Mary's Hospital in the Eldon and Lake Ozark Clinics. Recently, he has opened up his private practice in Lake Ozark, Mo at 121 Crossings West Drive (in between Serenity Health Spa and Lime in the Coconut----across from JB Hooks Restaurant). Debra Barnes (Medical Office Assistant and Office manager for 23 years) will oversee the nursing duties and office duties while Danielle and Terra (daughters) will work part time for Mom and Dad.
Dr and Mrs Barnes have 7 children............THAT'S RIGHT-------7!!! Tiffany, Tyson, Tisha, Cassie, Trent, Danielle, and Terra. What a great time they have during Holidays when all the children can get together. There are 4 GrandChildren so far with many more expected to come.
Dr Barnes is known for his common sense approach to medicine with vast experience in dealing with many health issues. While not afraid to use the expertise of specialists, Dr Barnes is able to handle most problems that will arise in a Family Practice. From infants to the elderly, this practice is open to all. We like to "get to know" the patient and their family, as this becomes an integral part of taking care of the whole person.
Dr Barnes enjoys golfing, boating, and motorcycle riding. A charter member of the Noble Eagles in Eldon, Mo----he has participated in many civic activities in the area to benefit local organizations. Also, an active member of the Patriot Guard---mostly a motorcycle group dedicated to honoring our fallen soldiers by attending funerals and simply holding a flag to show respect for the heroes that we have lost in the wars. He has been the "Team" physician for the Osage Indians for the last two years---down on the sidelines on Friday nights. Most of all, Dr Barnes enjoys his family above all, and tries to spend as much time as possible with his wife and all of those 7 kids and grandkids.

Health Tips!
Cut Fat!
Avoid the obvious such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage). Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise.
Reduce Stress
Easier said than done, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e.,Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible.
Wear you Seatbelt!
Statistics show that seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes. Thought for the day: Buckle down and buckle up.
